Abstract

This field book is the daily journal of George Suckley while serving with the Pacific Railroad Survey of the 47th and 48th parallels from May 24 to December 6, 1853. Dated entries detail casual observations and hunting details of birds, fish, and mammals. Other information documented includes locality, terrain conditions, distance traveled, and other general daily activity. Localities may include but may not be limited to Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Washington.
