Abstract

This folder contains photocopies of a table and data sheets reporting results from the Smithsonian Oceanographic Sorting Center (SOSC) of stomach content analysis for Pacific Ornithological Oceanographic Project (POOP) 5, SOSC acc. no. 123. The table, pages 12-21 of "SOSC ref. 123 POBSP 5," summarizes data from the data sheets. The table lists more field numbers than are represented by the data sheets in the folder. Each data sheet records the stomach contents of an individual bird. Station numbers range from 21 to 40692. Birds were caught October 13 through November 22, 1964. Localities recorded on data sheets include the Pacific Ocean islands of Baker Island, Christmas Island [Kiritimati], and McKean Island. Stomach contents were recorded May and June 1965. Fields include species, station no., SOSC acc no., lat. & long., date, time caught, direction flying, squid, ceph. beaks, fish, fish remains, crustacea, other animals, parasitic animals, notes on squid, notes on fish, and general notes. Station number, species, lat. & long, and/or date are missing from several data sheets.
