Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammal specimens collected by K. Lange in Madagascar for the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project, August 31, 1962 - May 6, 1963. Includes pages 1 - 20; 1 - 16. Entries are headed with date and and locality (combination of country, region, distance from) as well as type of trap and bait. Information includes specimen number (1 - 624), sex, name, USNM catalog number, 4 measurements, and weight. Sometimes after date is information about habitat, elevation, or vegetation. Notes on occasion also cover specimen characteristics (i.e. testes), age, specimen preparation, and specimen condition. Some specimens are from birds. Locations include sites in Mauritius and Madagascar.
