Abstract

The field notes document the collecting of August Busck, August - October 1896, at locations across the vicinity of District of Columbia. The entries are headed with date, name, location (sometimes indicated with landmark i.e. Zoological Park or grounds of US Department of Agriculture), vegetation, and specimen number. These are followed by detailed observations of insect appearance, characteristics, age (larvae), as well as behavior. Sometime within entries information is listed with multiple dates. Some notes relate to specimen preparation. Includes loose inserts and rough sketches relating to insect anatomy. Also includes miscellaneous notes.
