Abstract

The field notes document the collecting of August Busck during 1899 in the vicinity of District of Columbia, including northern Virginia. Entries are dated and headed with name and specimen number as well as collecting location (often refers to local landmarks, i.e. Aqueduct bridge). Entries describe portions of life cycle of specimens, with notes on characteristics (appearance, diet) and sometimes dates relating to development. Some specimen notes are listed on loose inserts. Entries start from the front and back of notebook. From the back is a list of specimen number, name and type of vegetation.
