Abstract

This folder contains documents reporting the results from the Smithsonian Oceanographic Sorting Center (SOSC) of stomach content analysis for Pacific Ornithological Oceanographic Project (POOP) 3, SOSC acc. no. 70. Documents include a report, "Summary of POOP 3 Bird Stomachs, SOSC Acc. 70," compiled by K. Stroman and H.D. Fleet, December 8, 1964. Also included is a 6-page document summarizing in tabular form the results of stomach content analysis for each bird, and an accompanying memorandum from Mrs. Beatrice L. Burch to Dr. Humphrey, dated December 23, 1964. The folder also contains a portion of the data sheets recording stomach contents for each bird. The data sheets are for birds caught 3-18 February 1964; stomach contents were recorded in October and November 1964. Species include Red-footed Booby, Blue-faced Booby, Red-tailed Tropicbird, and Sooty Tern. Fields include species, station no., SOSC acc no., lat. & long., date, time caught, direction flying, squid, ceph. beaks, fish, fish remains, crustacea, other animals, parasitic animals, notes on squid, notes on fish, and general notes.
