The field catalog documents the specimen collecting of H. L. Norman for the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project, November 11, 1970 - May 9, 1972. Includes several sections. First section covers mammal specimens, pages 1 - 27. Entries are dated and headed with locality (combination of country, region, town, sometimes farm name, latitude and longitude, and / or distance from). Information listed includes specimen number, sex, name, USNM catalog number, 4 measurements and sometimes weight. Second section covers botanical specimens B100 - B261, pages 1- 8. Entries are headed with date, location and description of terrain / habitat. Entries include specimen number, soil composition, measurements and specimen description, and sometimes abundance / rarity. Last page is marked catalog supplement, and lists non sequential specimen numbers with type and measurements. Sometimes there is additional information such as notes on quantity and measurements of embryos, collecting method, or specimen appearance. Locations are in Morocco.
