Abstract

The field catalog documents the specimen collecting of D. A. Schlitter for the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project, October 15, 1969 - July 30, 1971. Field catalog entries are in two formats. First group of specimens are organized by date and locality (combination of country, region, distance from, and latitude and longitude). They list collector number, sex, type, USNM catalog number, measurements (4 types), and weight. The format changes to preprinted sheets that include specimen details: age, sex, preparation, name, locality, date, collector, number, 4 measurements, weight, preparator, USNM catalog number, and remarks. Remarks cover additional information about location, collecting method, time of day, or habitat. Locations include Morocco; Maryland (United States); Namibia; and Liberia.
