Abstract

The journal documents C. B. Robbins' field work in Mauritania and Senegal as part of the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project, February 25 - July 24, 1967. Pages are numbered (1 - 49). Entries are dated and sometimes headed with locality (country, region, sometimes latitude and longitude, distance from locations). Narrative describes travel details (routes, arrangements, accommodations, campsites), specimens collected (type and quantity), collecting methods (type and quantity), daily activities and time of day, terrain and vegetation (types, and seen enroute), habitat, parasites found, notes on observations of wildlife including footprints, minimum and maximum temperatures, relative humidity, additional (unidentified) readings, and phase of moon. Some collecting sites were along bodies of water.
