Abstract

The field book documents the field work of Lester F. Ward for the US Geological Survey, March 25, 1902 - September 5, 1904. Entries are dated and describe travel details, sites visited where plant fossils were collected, and geological descriptions of terrain (color and characteristics of layers). Some collecting sites are in a list. Collecting sites include railroad cuts, mines, and alongside bodies of water. Sites in DC are identified by neighborhood and roads. Locations include vicinity of District of Columbia and Maryland.
