Abstract

The journal documents L. W. Robbins' field work as part of the African Mammal Project (Smithsonian Institution), September 22, 1968 - May 4, 1971. Pages are numbered. Entries often list work completed with colleagues (various). Entries are dated and headed with location, sometimes with latitude and longitude. Entries describe collecting methods (including quantity of traps), localities visited (including landmarks and distances from), routes, daily activities with time of day, specimen collecting (including bats and rodents), habitat, weather, and descriptions of campsites. Specimen details include type, quantity, sometimes sex. Includes tables of minimum and maximum temperatures with date, and locations during 1969. Locations include various sites in Ghana (1968), Ivory Coast [Côte d'Ivoire] (1968 - 1969), Morocco (1969 -1970), Algeria and Niger (1971). References R. E. Vaden and M G. Hearst for 1969 accounts.
