Abstract

The field book documents the field work of Lester F. Ward for the US Geological Survey, October 3, 1898 - June 23, 1901. Entries are dated and list type of work completed; last names of colleagues, if worked with; and collecting locations. Entries describe travel details, meetings with colleagues, shipments, collections studied, geological descriptions (terrain, geological periods, measurements, layer composition, geological sections,) as well as fossil specimens collected. Locations descriptions include names of towns, ranches. Locations include South Dakota (Sturgis); Arizona (Williams, Holbrook); Norfolk, England.
