Abstract

This item consists of materials relating to lichens in the herbarium collection of E. Tuckerman. Included is correspondence, lists of lichens collected, and photographs. The correspondence includes a letter by Tuckerman to John Lewis Russell, Amherst, 1856, on Exsiccati he was preparing. Other correspondence includes a letter from Rathbun to Maxon, 1916, enclosing and discussing the original Tuckerman letter. A copy of the original letter and a transcript of the letter are also included. Other correspondence with Maxon, Rathbun, and Mary Wilson, 1915-1916, discuss Tuckerman's collections. A list of Lichens Exsiccati at Beltsville, Maryland and a list of "Lichens cited in Bouly de Lesdain: Lichens du Mexique (1914)". Two photographic images (portraits of two different men) are included.
