Abstract

This field book contains notes from Kleiman's trip to Brazil from 13-26 October 1989. The notes document Kleiman's research activities as well as meetings and discussions she has with colleagues regarding the project and an election. During this trip, Kleiman performs focals and playbacks. Playbacks involve observing the reactions of golden lion tamarins when certain recorded sounds from other golden lion tamarins are played, but Kleiman notes many unsuccessful playbacks in this notebook. Also included are notes about Japanese and American film crews filming Kleiman and her team performing research. Also during this trip, Kleiman tracks the riverbanks group. Finally, the notes document meetings about an impending election.
