Abstract

Information is entered in several formats. Begins with a list of fossils. Materials were found near Illinois coal sources; the lists include additional location information, sometimes counties including Knox, Mercer, Vermillion, and Fayette County. Some entries are detailed discussions of specimens found in Illinois and Nebraska, sometimes by other people. The entries are headed with the name of the fossil genus, information entered in paragraphs, and include collector, locations, citations, hypotheses and sometimes illustrations. There is a list of fish remains from Nebraska. Fossils discussed were found by Broadhead, Green, Bradley, Worthen. Also includes observations of Paleontology collections in New York, list of expenses for 1869, and in the back of the notebook notes about books lent, borrowed and purchased.
