Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammals collected by Stanley E. Piper in California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, July 1905 - November 17, 1913. Pages are numbered. Entries cover some USNM catalog numbers (non consecutive), specimen number (1 - 366), sex, name (scientific), locality, date, measurements (3 types), and remarks. Remarks are a combination of details that include additional location information (distance from landmarks, names of ranches), altitude, specimen preparation, habitat and vegetation (i.e. alfalfa field at outskirts of town), age, notes on specimen loans, results of dissections, and quantity of fetuses. A portion of the notebook is blank.
