Abstract

Journal documents work in Kansas August 26, 1858. Entries are dated and include numbered cross sections, descriptions of terrain, destinations, modes of travel, and characteristics of strata and rock formations. Locations include Cottonwood Creek, Diamond Spring Creek [Diamond Creek], Council Grove, Chapman's Creek [Chapman], Manhattan, and Leavenworth City [Leavenworth]. Includes a list of expenses for September 24 - October 17, 1858 and list of books returned to the Smithsonian Library. Includes an oversized loose insert section of Golden City (no date) and loose insert of Ethnological Division of Royal Museum of Berlin.
