Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammals collected by Edward William Nelson in California, Mexico, and Nevada, November 29, 1890 - September 26, 1893. Pages are numbered. Includes multiple catalogs bound together; pagination restarts with each catalog, some include notes at the beginning. Entries cover specimen number (1 - 5580), sex, name of species (scientific), locality (town, state), date, measurements (total length, tail vertebrae, hind foot), and remarks. Remarks include a combination of details about habitat and vegetation (i.e. salt grass belt bordering Owens Lake), additional location information (including campsites), additional measurements, and altitude.
