Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammals collected by Olaus Johan Murie across the United States and Canada, February 12, 1911 - August 1961. Pages are numbered. Notes in the front of the volume state that "mammals 87 - 400 are missing, 1401 - 3731 in FWS catalog book, and 1926 - 3729 in black binder." Entries cover specimen number (1 - 4319), sex, name (scientific), measurements (3 types), date, locality (town campsite #'s, geological landmarks, state or province, and distances from landmarks), and remarks. Remarks include a combination of additional location information (including distance from landmarks), habitat and vegetation, collector, collecting method, specimen preparation, quantity of fetuses, and weight.
