Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammals collected by John Alden Loring in Assiniboia, Alberta, British Columbia,Saskatchewan, Canada; Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, United States; Sonora, Mexico; April 6, 1892 - August 25, 1908. Includes multiple catalogs bound together; pagination restarts with each catalog. Entries cover some USNM catalog numbers (non consecutive), specimen number (1 - 9091), sex, name of species, locality (towns, state, nation, landmarks like plantations, geological landmarks), date, measurements (total length, tail, hind foot), and remarks. Remarks include a combination specimen condition, characteristics (weight, appearance, age, quantity of embryos), habitat and vegetation, and time of day collected.
