Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammals collected by A. H. Howell in Colorado, Idaho, Maryland, Montana, New York, Oregon, Utah, May 18, 1895 - July 6, 1911. The volume is a series of catalogs bound together with pagination restarting with each catalog. Entries cover some USNM catalog numbers (non consecutive), specimen number (1 - 1919), name (scientific), locality, date, measurements (total, tail vertebrae, hind foot), and remarks. Remarks include a combination of additional measurements, specimen characteristics and condition, specimen preparation, quantity and size of embryos, habitat, specimen exchanges, specimen preparation, terrain (altitude), and additional location information (i.e. Apache Canyon, 5 miles north of Folsom).
