Abstract

The notebook was used for multiple purposes by Fielding Meek. It includes notes of strata, locations, as well as expenses, and lists of necessity. Specifically it includes notes on several collections, notes on trochiform shells, expenses, expenses related to travel to Nebraska. It then lists notes for sites in North Dakota: Fort Clark, Fort Berthold, and Fort Union, descriptions of sections of strata on Judith River in Montana, Calf's Head Island, lists of questions to ask professors, and lists of names. Dates are used throughout, sometimes indicating a year ranging from 1838-1858, though it is not always clear if the year expresses the date of the entry. Expenses listed also date from 1858.
