Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammals collected by A. K. Fisher across the United States, 1881 - 1921. Pages are numbered; the volume is composed of multiple of catalogs bound together. Entries are not consistently chronologically organized. Numbering restarts with each section. Entries include specimen number (1 - 2467), sex, species, USNM catalog number (non consecutive), locality (town, geological landmark), date, measurements (total, tail, hind foot), and remarks. Remarks include condition of specimen, if topotype, habitat and terrain where collected, presence of embryos, preparation, and collector. He notes collecting in California, Nevada, 1891; Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, 1892; Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, North Dakota, 1893; Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia, 1894 - 1895. Locations throughout the volume include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington.
