This volume consists of a catalogue of botanical collections and illustrations by F. A. Walpole, in 4 sections. The first section includes a list of botanical collections and drawings from Oregon and Washington, 1898 to 1901. The entries are arranged systematically on the right hand pages and chronologically on the left hand pages. Entries include collector number (1 through 2068), scientific name, locality, and drawing number (1 through 2068). The second section of the field book includes a list of botanical collections and drawings from Alaska, 1900. Entries list collector number (1037 through 1292), scientific name, locality, date, and drawing number (369 through 482). Following the plant list is a list of collections made in Alaska organized alphabetically by scientific name. The third section of the book includes a list of plants collected in Oregon in 1902. Notations are made for watercolors and pencil drawings. Entries list collector number (2101 through 2343), scientific name, locality, date. The fourth section of the book includes a list of plants collected in California in 1904. Entries list collector number (2351 through 2408), scientific name, locality, date. Longer, more detailed physical descriptions of some specimens can be found in the last pages of the book. Localities include: Portland (OR), Santa Barbara (CA), Klamath (OR), Sitka (AK), Kodiak (AK).
