Abstract

The field catalog documents the mammal collecting by Basil Hicks Dutcher across the United States, June 17, 1891 - August 1902. Pages are numbered. Entries cover specimen number (1 - 1040), sex, name of species, some USNM catalog numbers (non consecutive), locality (town, state, or geological landmark), date, measurements (3 types), and remarks. Remarks vary in content, including notes on destinations of specimens, specimen condition, habitat and vegetation where collected, or elevation. Locality descriptions detail habitat information as well. There is a note that some specimen entries are continued from catalogue of Mt Whitney specimens from the Death Valley Expedition, California, 1891. Locations include Arizona, Arkansas, California, Kansas, Maine, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.
