Abstract

This field book contains notes dated from February 15 to March 04, 1986 and are related to observations of golden lion tamarin (GTL) and their processing and release. Events take place in several locations in Brazil including but not limited to Poço das Antas Biological Reserve and Ecoparque de Una (Una Ecopark or Una Biological Reserve). Several GTL are referred to by name, for example, Rita, Ron, Jackie, Pepe, and Marcelo. Kleiman also records notes on her meetings with the new Director of the Rio Zoo (Jardim Zoologico Do Cidade Do Rio de Janeiro), on impending deforestation in Sao Paulo that will affect black lion tamarins, and other issues. A note taped to the cover outlines the contents of the book.
