Abstract

The field book documents J. Alden Loring's field work to the western United States, April 20 - December 14, 1892. Entries are dated and describe travel details (destinations, times of day, route, mode of transportation), daily activities, weather, observations of population numbers of types of birds, specimens collected including mammals and birds (type, quantity, habitat, condition), and work with colleagues and local staff. Most of the notebook is blank. Locations include Hermosillo, Guaymas (state unidentified); Fort Huachuca and vicinity of Flagstaff, Arizona; Valley City near Cheyenne River in North Dakota, and enroute in Nebraska.
