Abstract

The field book documents Luther Little's field work as A. B. Howell's assistant in Arizona, May 19 - August 19, 1918. Entries are dated and describe extended observations of wildlife behavior (gophers burrowing, snakes, birds), specimen collecting (mammals, snakes, birds), method of collecting, weather, daily work, insects observed, and campsites. A portion of the notebook is blank. Sometimes locations or routes are listed at the beginning of entries. Sometimes specimen description includes common or scientific name, quantity, and sex. Addition location identification includes ranch owner and distance from locations. Locations include Wellton, Tinajas Altas Mountains, Gila Bend, Bates Well, Indian Oasis [Sells], White House canyon, Santa Rita Mountains.
