Abstract

The field book documents A. H. Howell's field work in Florida, March 1, 1938 - April 18, 1939. Entries are dated and describe travel details (destinations, times of day, accommodations, campsites), daily activities, specimens collected (mammals including rodents), weather, terrain and vegetation where trapping, and meetings and interactions with colleagues and local inhabitants including staff of the forest service. A portion of the notebook is blank. Location identification includes names of landowners of farms. In the back of the notebook is a list of specimens (1 - 12) with type, sex, measurements (3), and date. Locations include Ocala, Carabelle, and Escambia Bay.
