Abstract

This field book contains notes on the processing and releasing of golden lion tamarins, including tamarins named Micueca and Sentinel, in Brazil. The notes are dated from May 18, 1984 to June 19, 1984. The inside of the cover contains a list of events with dates. Notes are narrative and describe Kleiman's more or less daily activities including conducting focal animal sampling and releasing and observing animals. Kleiman observes the behavior and interaction with the environment of each animal. The last two pages include some of her reflections on streamlining the reintroduction process. A bulk of the notes contain descriptions of Kleiman's day-to-day travels, meetings with colleagues, representatives from IBDF (Instituto Brasileiro de Desenvolvimento Florestal), and others, conversations, and preparation for field work. Kleiman's frustration with negotiations with IBDF are noted, as well as her disagreements with colleagues on methods of conducting focals.
