Abstract

Photographs document the Parish-Smithsonian Expedition to Haiti, 1930. Some images are captioned, and there are related negatives in the collection. Subject matter includes aboard ship, vegetation, collected live and dead specimens (including birds, sea-life, reptiles); native residences, markets and ports; expedition participants and Haitians; terrain including coastlines and rivers; catching a shark; and the ship "Esperanza". Include locations around Cuba and Haiti including the vicinity of Navassa Island, Île à Vache, and Petit Trou de Nippes. Includes photographs of Watson Perrygo and Mr. and Mrs. Parish.
