Abstract

Continuation of the Anderson collection from 15 May 1863 to 10 May 1864, no 551 to no 1550, collected by MacFarlane for the Smithsonian Institution. These are the numbers missing from MacFarlane's first volume, "List of objects of natural history collected for the Smithsonian Institution." Listed are scientific name of species, sex, quantity collected, eggs collected, date, locality, and remarks. Remarks and descriptions range from one or two lines, to full pages with narrative anecdotes of the collecting events, descriptions of habitat, and other comments about the specimens. Localities include Fort Anderson, Barren Grounds, Horton River, Islands off the Arctic Coast, and McKenzie River.
