These are the numbers missing from MacFarlane's first volume, "List of objects of natural history collected for the Smithsonian Institution." Listed are scientific name of species, sex, quantity collected, eggs collected, date, locality, and remarks. Remarks and descriptions range from one or two lines, to full pages with narrative anecdotes of the collecting events, descriptions of habitat, and other comments about the specimens. Localities include Fort Anderson, Barren Grounds, Horton River, Islands off the Arctic Coast, and McKenzie River.
