Abstract

Undated letters from Kennicott to Spencer Baird reporting Kennicott's activities and commenting on his collections of birds and possibly other specimens. Kennicott discusses his field work and that of collectors he recruits (such as Clark) and specimens collected. Kennicott discusses areas he collected in and what was found. Localities discussed include Lake Superior, Lake Winnipeg, Cumberland Lake, Fort Simpson, and other localities. These letters are undated but were probably written sometime between 1859 and 1866, during Kennicott's time in Canada.
