Abstract

The journal documents the field work of Edward A. Goldman in Montana, May 16 - June 12, 1924. Entries are dated and describe travel details (destinations, time of day, mode of transportation), interactions with local officials and staff including warden of National Bison Range, observed flora (types) and fauna (birds, mammals), weather, terrain (altitude), collecting methods, summaries of local staffs' observations of flora and fauna, feeding grounds, lists of birds seen per location, and summaries of hunting activities including elk counts. There are extended sections discussing elks and their herds, and other descriptions of fauna under headings in entries. Additional location information includes geological landmarks.
