Abstract

The journal documents the field work of Edward A. Goldman in Panama, January 8 - July 3, 1912. Includes a partial, "not proofed" transcription by S. L. Olson, December 1990. Entries are dated and often headed with location. Subject matter covers travel details (destinations, time of day, mode of transportation including travel on the S.S. Colon and Cana), weather, interactions with local inhabitants including colleagues, specimen collecting (bats), travel with Dr. Marsh to bat caves near Alhajuela [Alajuela], travel with other (multiple) colleagues, descriptions of vegetation (type including crops), terrain with estimated measurements or elevations / altitudes.
