Abstract

The field book of Walter K. Fisher documents his work in Nevada and California, June 3 - August 27, 1898. Entries are dated and often headed with location. Subject matter covers travel details (destinations, time of day, campsites), terrain, vegetation (type with scientific name and state of growth), observed wildlife (lizards, birds) with descriptions of behaviors and abundance, daily work, collecting methods, collecting in locations visited by Bailey, Osgood, and R. T. Fisher. Includes lists of wildlife observed per location. Additional location information includes geological landmarks and names of ranches. Locations include Bull Run mountains, Nevada; Mount Shasta, California; and Lassen (state unidentified).
