Abstract

Letters (dated 21 January and 24 November 1862) from Kennicott to Spencer Baird reporting Kennicott's activities and collections of birds, mammals, and other specimens. Kennicott discusses his field work and that of collectors he recruits (such as Clark) and specimens collected. Kennicott discusses areas he collected in and what was found. Localities discussed include La [Pierres?] House (Rocky Mountains), Fort Simpson, Puls River, and other localities.
