Abstract

This field book includes a list of plants collected by Soderstrom in Costa Rica in 1966, and South America (including Colombia, and possibly other locations) in 1969. Collector numbers 1205 through 1431 are included. Entries list: collector number, scientific name, physical descriptions (size, color, shape, sex, and other observations), abundance / rarity, locality, and date. Longer, more detailed descriptions are present for some entries. Some entries include sketches of plant specimens. Elevations are noted for some localities. Localities include but are not limited to: Limon (Costa Rica), Paramo de Chisaca (Colombia?), Rio Peneya (Colombia), Amazonas (Colombia?), and Putumayo (Colombia). Included in the field book is a letter dated 7/4/1993 from Royal Botanic Gardens Kew to Dan Nicolson at the Smithsonian. The letter includes a tentative determination of collector number 1292, which is labeled "too immature" for definitive determination.
