Abstract

The photograph album (Volume 2) documents Alexander Wetmore's collecting efforts in Darién, Panama in 1959. Photographs are numbered, and captioned with location, description, and date. Subject matter includes preparing specimens; shorelines and waterways; villages; examples of vegetation; camp sites; Choco Indians; travel by cayuco; candid images of colleagues, Choco Indians, Panamanian employees, and families; transport of supplies; roads around the naval reserve. Locations include the vicinity of Boca De Paya, Boca de Cupe, Rio Tuira; and Gamboa. Includes photographs of Wetmore, Beatrice Thielen Wetmore, and Martin Humphrey Moynihan.
