Abstract

The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Arizona, California, Nevada, July 2 - October 23, 1931. Entries are dated and describe travel details (destinations, times of day, mode of travel, campsites), weather, vegetation (including crops, phenology, and life zones), terrain (with elevation) enroute, caves in Nevada, specimens collected, wildlife observed (including snakes, birds), and individuals with whom he worked in the field. From the back are entries organized by fauna type followed by notes about population numbers and habitat, sometimes for a range of years. Locations include Fallon, Nevada; Koip pass, California; Grand Canyon, Arizona.
