Abstract

The journal and news clipping document Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in California, Oregon, November 21 - December 15, 1930. Entries are dated and describe travel details (destinations, times of day, accommodations), weather, vegetation, meetings and work with colleagues and local officials, terrain, observations of mammals (coyotes) and birds, specimens collected, lists of mammals and birds including notes about collecting, coyote droppings, methods of collecting (trapping versus poison or "varmit dogs") for purposes of fur, and work with fur trappers. Locations include Eugene, Baker, John Day, Oregon; Fallon, Nevada.
