Abstract

The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Maine, Minnesota, Prince Edward Island, August 10 - October 3, 1925. Bailey was the Biologist for the Biological Survey, heading to Mt Desert Island. Entries are dated and describe his travel from Washington, DC (destinations, times of day, mode of travel), vegetation and life zones, terrain, colleagues and local officials, observations during tours with rangers including conditions of dams and roads, observations of beavers, summaries of local rangers' observations of wildlife populations (listed with common name), specimen collecting, and descriptions of communities visited. Observations include amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and fish. Locations include Bar Harbor, Maine, to Prince Edward Island, Saint John's, Canada.
