The notebook indicates that he was, as an agent of the US Department Agriculture, directed to work with the National Geographic Society in their exploration of the caverns in the national park at Carlsbad, New Mexico. Many of the observations are about bats. Locations include San Antonio, Texas. Includes list of plants observed at Sierra Blanca Mountains.
