Abstract

The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Montana and Washington, April 6 - May 9, 1918. Entries are dated and describe travel from Denver. Descriptions include travel details (destinations, times of day), vegetation, observed birds and mammals (elk, coyotes) and habitat, weather, interactions with and observations of local inhabitants about wildlife. Some entries include subheadings of wildlife type followed by description of animal, habitat, sometimes specimens collected, and location. Locations include Belton, Kintla Lake, Montana; Dutch Creek, Camas Creek, (state unidentified); Seattle, Washington.
