Abstract

The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Glacier Park, Montana, July 1 - August 31, 1917, for the Biological Survey. Entries are dated and describe travel details (destinations, times of day, mode of travel, campsites), vegetation (including crops and life zones), lists of plants observed per location, specimen collecting and preparation, and observations of mammals and birds. Many locations are identified by geological landmarks. Includes a sketch of an animals' tunnel system.
