Abstract

The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's collecting mammal and bird specimens in North Dakota, June 3 - July 2, 1912. Entries are dated and locations are often listed at the top of pages. Descriptions include travel details (destinations, modes of travel, campsites), vegetation (type and abundance), terrain, and sometimes detailed descriptions of specimens (type, habitat, collecting method, sex, weight). There are lists detailing flora and fauna per location, sometimes with description of habitat. Includes sketches of geological landmarks. Locations include Linton, Sweetwater Lake, North Dakota; Hawksnest Butte.
