Abstract

The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's collecting mammal and bird specimens in Arizona, California, Mexico, New Mexico, Texas, July 25 - October 12, 1908. Entries are dated and pages are sometimes headed with location. Details include travel details (mode of travel, destinations, accommodations, campsites), notes about "Canadian zone plants" with description (elevation), terrain (including elevation), vegetation, weather, lists of observed plants, lists of mammals with habitat descriptions, observations of local Indian tribes, specimens collected. There are notations and corrections in volume, usually relating to specimen name or location.
