They describe routes, distances traveled, terrain (marshes, swamps, elevation), campsites, vegetation (state of bloom), observed wildlife, weather, temperature, photographs taken, specimen collecting and preparation, work with Hollister, daily work and time of day, birds and rice fields of Louisiana, and field work across New Mexico. Some specimen information includes measurements and sex. Some location information includes of ranches. Includes a hand drawn map of campsites and route through Mescalero Indian reservation (New Mexico), including notations for rivers. Locations include Jefferson, San Antonio, Valentine, Texas; Marshall, (state unidentified); Shreveport, Louisiana; Guadalupe mountains, Cloudcroft, Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
