Abstract

The photograph album documents Alexander Wetmore's travels in Panama (Darien), 1946. Photographs sometimes include numbers, date, and caption with description and location. He was assisted by Watson M. Perrygo. Subject matter includes images of colleagues and military in Pearl Islands, Panama; terrain including savanna, jungle, shorelines, and rivers; lodgings; anti-termite testing plot; Barro Colorado staff; locals traveling in a cayuco on the river; preparing collected specimens; point at Quebrada; examples of native residences; examples of clear-cutting forests; sites around Jaque Auxiliary Airfield. Includes photographs of Wetmore, Watson M. Perrygo, T. C. Schneirla, and James Zetek. Also included are photographs of the Barro Colorado Island Laboratory.
