Abstract

The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's collecting of mammal and bird specimens in Arizona, Minnesota, Texas, November 15, 1889 - February 15, 1890. Entries are dated and detail travel and specimen collecting. Descriptions include observed wildlife, specimen preparation, daily activities, quantity and type of specimens collected per day, weather, terrain, vegetation, water levels of local rivers, elevations, and interactions with local inhabitants (ranchers).
